Welcome to our
Spring Newsletter
From time to time we’ll send you information on our activities and projects we’re working on. We’ll also highlight one or two organisations we are collaborating with to make circularity and reuse happen! Feel free to reach out to us at any time, we’re keen to make contact with likeminded individuals and organisations who share a passion for reuse.

Maconda and Reusefully unite to drive circular construction in London
Maconda and Reusefully, two innovators in circular construction, are teaming up to tackle one of the industry’s greatest challenges – how to turn London’s buildings into digital material banks. The two organisations are mapping their data gathering and analysis capabilities using the ROMULUS digital platform. Data from Reusefully audits will be added to the platform, via a seamless automatic upload function, to provide end clients with a powerful digital material inventory of a building asset, enabling the creation of future material passports.

FIS Project Reuse - Ceiling Tiles & Luminaires
We’re sponsoring and supporting the FIS Project Reuse. This is a physical storage facility in East London, which is currently building up a stock of ceiling tiles and luminaires in a pilot project to overcome the challenges through a more systematic approach to reuse in interiors and fit-outs.

Circularity Developments Across Europe
Reusefully’s Gilli Hobbs is active in circular economy forums across Europe and a member of various standards committees including CEN TC 350 SC1 Circular Economy in Construction. She also chairs the UK mirror committee. There’s a good write-up on Gilli’s recent trip to Denmark – in Danish but Google Translate works wonders!

The Nordics - On the Brink of a Circular Construction Breakthrough
Also in the European context, we regularly share our thinking and experiences of circularity with various networks across Europe. In January, Gilli Hobbs provided the keynote presentation at the Circular Building Forum which showcased projects and policies to drive change. As a result of this, the City of Copenhagen reached out to connect and learn from the City of London and Westminster City Council’s retrofit first planning guidance. This was followed more recently with a presentation and panel discussion at the Nordic Circular Hotspot, a collection of construction organisations and municipalities from across the region. You can read a report of the event and listen to Gilli’s presentation below.

It’s now a Material Bank, not a Money Bank!
Circularity isn’t just for buildings in London. Bank House in Leeds is the former regional HQ of the Bank of England and whilst the money deposits may have long gone, this building still has huge value as a material bank. We’re working with Fuse Studios and Carbon.Climate.Certified to reimagine and repurpose the building on behalf of developers Rushbond, and help maximise the circularity and reuse value of this iconic building in Leeds city centre.

The Power of a 3D Digital Twin to Enhance Circularity
We now routinely create 3D Digital Twins of the buildings we audit. These provide a powerful tool both in the creation of a material inventory of a building, and throughout the circular economy implementation stage, providing a visual record for the team, and helping to identify and follow-up on reuse and rehoming opportunities. Reach out to find out more, we’d be happy to provide a demonstration.
